Nightly Suicide

Eternity compressed into a brief glimpse
Of the evening horizon
Swathed in red
By the angry sun.

Billowing white bandages can’t stop
The flow of blood
From spilling across the sky.

The sun impales itself further
On the razor sharp edge of the mountains
Until darkness takes it to eternal rest.
