descriptive poem about olden days
Baby dragons sitting in the palm of my hand
Growing up to be guardians of the land
Taking flight on silvery wings
Watching and protecting all things

Remembering a time long ago
When kings and queens roamed castles,
Playing in the valley where bluebells grow
And happy children lovingly chase damsels

As I sit upon a dear papa's lap
I try so hard not to take a nap
My papa puts in my hand a nest
Full of eggs in a slumbering in rest

This was the very first time I saw
Three large gray baby dragon eggs
We kept them away from the law
Who thought they brought the plagues

I watched them hatch into the world
Sparkling dust around them swirled
The magic of it caught me unaware
I gave them all the love I dare

Over the years we grew up side by side
Watching everything change aroiund us
Playing together by the hearthside
I knew my friends were not monstrous

As adults we stayed together
You laid new eggs to hatch by Easter
I took a wife who bore me a son
We are all one family my airborne cousin

The years go by in a rapid pace
My children have grown, my beard turns white
You, my friends, have seen the changes to my face
The youthful day turns into the elder's night

Baby dragons sitting in the palm of my hand
Growing up to be guardians of the land
Watching as I take my final sleep
Crying over a heartache so deep
