Edward gets some support |
Edward would've given anything to sleep alone that night. But unfortuntly he was in a tent with five other men. His father was up. He was looking through the papers the General had signed giving orders to bomb the enemy he wasn't sure when though. Edward was personally in a daydream. He didn't know quite about. He just knew that he was daydreaming, probably trying to escape this hell of a life. "So what's your name?" asked a voice. Edward shook himself back into the real world and looked up to see a man with blonde hair and green eyes with a small dimple on the corner of his lip smiling at him. Edward had no idea how anyone could be smiling at a time like this. Edward looked down at his hands, they were red from squeezing probably due to his daydream. Then he looked up to find the man still looking at him. "Oh Edward" said Edward not wanting to talk with him. The man nodded. His smile slowly faded as he sensed Edward's wanting to be alone. "Well i'm Billy" said the man removing himself from Edward's bed on which he sat and moved to where he thought Edward wanted him to stay. Edward layed on his bed and stared at the top of the tent. He tried to imagine that it was a circus tent and he was 12 years old but the voices of the five other men proved him wrong. He layed down and listened the their convosation. Right now Billy and another were talking. "You know it's been one day and i'm missing her already" said Billy as if he was talking to Edward but looking at the other man. "Who?" asked the man trying to understand. Billy sighed. He thought that 'her' was a bit obvious. "My girl" said Billy loudly. The man nodded. "If you had to wish for something right now what would it be?" asked Edward turning over to face Billy and the other man. Billy and him looked at edward. "Oh Edward this is Frank" said Billy pointing at Frank. Edward nodded. "Hey" said Frank raising his hand. Edward just smiled. "Come on what would you wish for?" asked Edward eager to know. Billy looked at the floor then at Frank then at Edward. "To feel my wife's breath on the back of my neck" said Billy trying to smile but not suceeding. Edward looked at Frank. "To see my mother that's all I want" said Frank. Edward just stared at both of them. "What about you ed?" asked Billy. Edward sighed. "To go back on my mistake" said Edward. Billly nodded. Frank said nothing. "Alright lights out" come a voice outside a tent. Billy layed back on his bed and switched off the light. Frank did the same. "Edward right?" asked Frank in the dark. "Yeah" said Edward sitting up. "Sometimes mistakes should be left the way they are" said Frank. Edward layed back down. "You sure?" he asked doubting it. "That way you can learn from them" said Frank. Edward couldn't help but dwell on that. |
