The six men get along for once |
When they got back to the tent they were greeted by Cyril like he was an angry mother...for Frank, that wasn't hard to imagine. "Where have you been?" asked Cyril confronting them as soon as Rory put his big toe in the tent. "Errm we" started Rory but he was interrupted. "I don't want to hear it, you can't just sneak off like that" said Cyril putting his hands on his hips. All he needed now was a dress thought Frank. "Oh stop it Cyril, you're not our mother" said Billy pushing through Rory and into the tent. Eventually everyone else followed. "Where did you go anyway?" asked Cyril as he watched everyone making their way to their beds. Once again Oliver was in the corner reading a book. "None of your bussiness" said Edward taking off his boots. "It is my bussiness" said Cyril getting the hump that no one really cared what he said. "Oh leave them alone" said Oliver closing his book and standing up. Cyril sighed. He knew he wasn't going to win an argument one against five. So he went to his bed and lay on it. Just staring at the tent roof as Edward did. "So where did you go?" asked Oliver sitting on Rory's bed. "Oh just a bar, you seem pretty interested in that book" said Frank nodding at the book that hung between Oliver's fore and middle finger. Oliver looked down at the book. "Yeah I know, it's good" said Oliver. The four men expected him to show it to him, but instead he just stared at the book. "What is it?" asked Rory causing Oliver to stare right at him. "Oh Charles Dickens, 'Great Expectations' " said Oliver finally showing the book to the rest. Everyone nodded. "Where did you get it from, a store?" asked Cyril getting up from his bed and sitting upright with his feet firmly on the ground. Everyone looked at Cyril, not because he had talked because they expected him to be quiet for the whole night, but they all knew that was Cyril, jumping in on a discussion. "My brother gave it to me actually as a sort of a reminder of him" said Oliver holding the book tighter that before. "Your lucky" said Billy crossing his arms and looking at the book. This made everyone assume when he said 'lucky' he was talking about owning the book. "What?" asked Oliver, he couldn't see anything special about owning a book. "Your lucky you have a brother, I got stuck with sister's" said Billy staring at Oliver and waiting for a reply. "Oh yeah, I miss him though" said Oliver. After that everything went quiet. Everyone was sick of it but they didn't know how to break it. "I've got a brother" said Edward causing everyone to sigh with relief that someone had started talking again."His name's Tommy, and I miss him" said Edward. This statement made everyone think. And yet again silence ruled over the six men. |
