How important a friendship is that even distance cannot destroy.
We were created to be friends from the start
For the moment we met it was hard to keep us apart
We played with our blocks and cars
We used our Fake IDs to get into clubs and bars
Late night video game playing saying, “Just one more”
We kept each other from the high school whores
Our inside jokes could not be touched
Our fun was never too much
You made me remember my mother with happy and not sad
That it was not my fault and I still had my dad
We went bowling and you swore you didn’t let me win
But it was so apparent with the score at the end
Remember that night you had to get into a fight
You hit the guy with a lot of spite
You were scared and I knew you were no matter what you said
So I stayed those 12 hours making the floor my bed
You’d deny the gripping fear you held
That was the last time you were jailed
We would argue and not speak to each other
But our friendship was a bond…you were like my brother
So an hour would pass and you’d give a look
And we’d both laugh and that’s all it took
The call I got plays in my head over and over again
It broke my heart…never to mend
You had a seizure while driving and in a ditch you were found
In a hospital bed you were gagged and bound
A coma held your body away from me
It was a lot to look at and too much to see
Everyday I’d visit and talk to you without you responding
It felt like no matter what we were losing our bonding
You were to be my best man standing there with a smile
So I wouldn’t get cold feet as she walked down the aisle
You are my past and understand so well
Anyone else would very much fail
A month passes and you are worse than before
So in wood your body they store
My mind plays memories I want to cure right now
It’s not fair you never got a bow
You just got kicked off without a good-bye
Not even one of our most awesome high fives
Why couldn’t someone else die instead
Please don’t leave me alone without you
I don’t think I can go on…maybe a day or two
I am pulled away they lower you and someone mutes all sound
And from that moment on I have been jealous of the ground
