Dreams and reason |
SHE WOKE WITH A SMALL CRY: an acrostic--Award winner She had a sensible mind, However she had a heart. Each of these had a free will, With its own independence. Only when she was asleep, Keeping mind and heart at rest, Each of these did lie dormant, Without mutual conflict. It did so happen one day That she was too much depressed. Having that day, too, worked hard, Already she was too tired. Sleep did come as a godsend, Making her forget worries. Although she was fast asleep, Love dreams she was enjoying. Love is one entity which Does not have any known rules. Enter love and suddenly, Suspended is all reason. Probably she was dreaming About her would be husband. In his arms she felt secure, Rejoicing at the prospect. It was a blissful moment. Never was she so happy. Guided by feelings of love, Colourful the life did seem. Royal joy though she did feel, Yet life is no one way street. First pleasure, then pain is the Rule unwritten in this world. Ominous events happened. Many were the obstacles. He met with an accident, Ending in untimely death. Raw is this life and its dreams. Never are wishes fulfilled. In fact, hardly, we do count, God’s ways are so different! He gave out a painful cry, The final one ere his death, Making her, too, wince in pain, And wake up with a small cry. Reason has no place in dreams. Ever this dream bothers her! * Written in 7-7-7-7 syllabic format Third prize in “Every Week Something New” contest, "Invalid Item" , Round 3.
