Deep Within

Within my mind and heart,
I‘ve built a wall and with no said word or action could make it fall.
Trapped inside are memories I’ve tried so hard to forget and hide.
Within these memories are told lies: “I love you’s”, “I promises”, and repeated meaninglessly “I apologize.”
Sometimes feeling like I’ve lost all sense of time,
and yesterday being the only thing that fills my mind.
Constant fear and deception are the entangled emotions that cascade beyond the wall, poisoning my soul,
making me feel numb,
temporarily paralyzing me to move on with my life.
