A nonrhyming poem showing the tragedies of drunk driving |
His eyes closed for the last time They will never open again The people around him cry But he just lays there With a calm peaceful look Though peace is far the feeling around him A sudden sharp sadness fills the room Tears begin to flow They watch in utter silence as the nurse brings the blanket over his face Did he live a long good long life Maybe good but not long It was cut tragically short A man driving Was intoxicated He tried to swerve But it was too late The young boy of only 6 Was fataly hit No amount of money the man can give Will bring happiness to the family No amount of time the man spends in jail Will serve the family justice There will be one less place at that table There will be one less person in the new family photo There will be one more person to pray for There will be one more person dispise Many people shed a tear As many people cried As this six year old boy Took his last breath And he closes his eyes for the last time Dedicated to the Memory of Joshua Penny who died at the hand of a drunk driver at the age of 6 century x |
