A poem based on the legend of the O'Brien family Banshee.
The legend of 'The Banshee'
Was told to me,
By my Grandpa O'Brien
As I sat upon his knee.

The legend of The Banshee
Gave me such a fright;
The O'Brien clan she haunts,
This is my birthright.

She wails upon an O'Briens death,
A warning the Irish say
An icy fear, grasps my soul,
I hope she dosen't come my way.

Legend tells: If you hear her cry,
Then you have nothing to fear,
To the soul that will be lost
Her wails fall upon a deaf ear.

A ghostly silhouette, cloaked in grey,
Combing her long flowing hair,
She walks the clans perimetres
Wailing her ballad of despair.

I hope to never hear her ballad,
Or The Banshee I will blame;
For stealing my loved ones from me,
As O'Brien is my maiden name.
