A reunion with a childhood friend |
An October Weekend Ext. Front of brown shingled house. Muzzy is weeding under a barberry hedge in front of the house. Windchimes begin to ring from the two level front porch. A woman and girl walk up to the young man in his late thirties. He is on his hand and knees; tossing weeds onto the brick walk. He is unaware of the approaching woman and girl. MARCELLA Muzzy! He sits up on his knees and looks up at the woman. In an instant of recognition; he springs to his feet and enbraces Marcella. She laughs. MUZZY Did you move to the West Coast? I can't remember when I saw you... last. MARCELLA It's been twenty years. I got married.. We live over in Brighton. I was just visiting my Mom... and whoever.. MUZZY Your mom's a hot ticket! Who's this little person? MARCELLA This is my daughter, Kezia. KEZIA It's a nut tree in the Bible. (Giggles) MARCELLA I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. You were so devoted to her. MUZZY I had a dream about my folks. They were walking through a vibrant garden in their very best clothes and they were young and happy... MARCELLA That is soooo sweet(sob)....
