Chapter 1
The Girls

Theirs was a melting pot of ideas, lives, feelings, families, and relationships. A myriad of what women and the bonding friendships that they create exhibit. They each portraid differences that made them not only unique but, in some ways, the same. And this was the weekend that they would finally be able to get away from the lives which held them to celebrate the relationships that they had created.

Arriving at the airport in the black stretch limo that they had rented, they were an anxious and excited bunch of women in their late 30’s, exhibiting an energy that only children can display. As the limo came to a stop at the American Airlines entrance, the driver, a medium height man that even in his black and white suit and tie, had a body that would stop LA traffic, opened the door to allow the giddy bunch of five out to begin their adventures. First out of the limo was one of the two blonde women in the group, Kerri. Kerri had a tall, straight-lined appearance that was both elegant and casual. She was the mother of three, to which her beautifully toned body would not have indicated such. Her short blonde hair was streaked with the colors of honey and wheat and flowed beautifully in the gentle spring breeze around her heart-shaped face. Her slender frame showcased the magenta flowered mini skirt and matching silk tank beautifully, allowing her legs, which were long enough to support her 5’8” figure, to be displayed in the sexy manner in which the 37 year old carried herself. Kerri’s husband, Kyle, to whom she had been married to for 12 years, was lovingly referred to in the group of women as a man with nice pecks and handsome. Kyle was a construction worker, which explained his defined muscles and the tan that was the color of a deep, rich caramel. His hair was dark brown and his eyes were a penetrating green that would cause Kerri to still be drawn to his being, as though she had just met him across a crowded bar and were attracted to him with an indescribable desire. Theirs was not only a marriage, but a relationship that would surely sustain both of them until they were old.

Next out of the limo, was the other blonde in the group of excited women, Carissa. Carissa was perfectly proportioned, all the way from her short, sand-colored blonde hair to her size 6 feet. She was a bowl full of classy, sophisticated woman, topped with a spoonful of curiosity, and a dollop of the girl-next-door look of innocence. Carissa, always thinking she was in need of the latest diet fads, was beautiful and slender, much like a modern Doris Day, with her perfectly coordinating clothes and a tact to state things in a way that rivaled a Barbara Walters interview. She was not only sexy but unaware of her ability to still turn heads. Carissa was soon to be 34, and she was excitedly looking forward to celebrating the event this weekend with her friends. Carissa and her husband of 9 years, Chad, were blessed with two beautiful daughters, whose blue eyes were only rivaled to that of their mothers eyes. Chad was handsome with a touch of southern California. He looked as though he belonged on the cover of a surfing magazine with his sun-kissed blonde hair, captivating Pacific blue eyes and physique that only could be described as a man that spent hours carrying his board on the beach, paddling it out to that next big wave, and appearing to float on top of the water effortlessly all the way back to shore again. And, although Carissa loved to look at all of the items on life’s menu, she clearly would only order her favorite dish, Chad.

“Hurry up you guys! We don’t want to miss the flight to paradise” hollered Kerri to the others still fumbling with their belongings as they tried to exit the limo.

Emerging from the black limo, and with the help of the handsome, yet now whispered about among the girls limo driver, was Sophia. Sophia lived up to her Italian name with her dark flowing hair that gently tapped her on the shoulder, her beautiful olive skin so perfectly tanned, dark eyes that resembled pools of melted chocolate, and an impeccable taste for fashion and design. Sophia, at the young age of 35, was an accomplished designer, having designed for Liz Claiborne and recently submitted design ideas to Vera Wang. She loved her design life, but also had a passion for her home life, which included her high school sweetheart, Bradley, and their two boys. She was the socialite of the girls, often times entertaining her husband’s clients on their fifty foot yacht, as they cruised along Long Island Sound. Bradley fit the typical image of tall, dark and handsome. Bradley was tall, a six-foot three inches tall. His smile was infectious and could melt Sophia in a glance. His hair resembled that of the finest dark, rich, brown coffee with the latte eyes to match. Bradley’s year-round sun drenched skin only added to the cup of coffee that Sophia got to drink out of each day. He was not only supportive and loving of Sophia and her career, but he adored the life that they had created together.

Appearing next from the stretch limo was the practical one of the group, Lanelle. Lanelle emerged from the limo pressing her pouty lips together, making sure they were accented with the just the right touch of sparkle from her gloss. “Carissa, should we get that skycap over there to get all of these bags out of the back of the limo?” Lanelle asked. Looking over to the corner of the curb, Carissa noticed the rather adorable, boy-next-door looking skycap and motioned for him to come to the aid of the now ansty group. He was just the eye candy that Lanelle enjoyed watching from afar. Tall, slender, young boyish looking, all coupled with the mannerisms and physique of a grown man. Without further adeu, Lanelle grabbed her small purse from the seat and smoothed over her buckwheat summer blonde hair. Although the most down to earth personality of the bunch, her appearance was not one of practicality. She stood a perfect 5’6” tall, casual yet elegantly dressed with her black linen capri pants and a striking black and brown leopard trimed linen tank shirt, topped off with equally elegant black wedge sandals. Her eyes were a beautiful pool of tropical emerald green and their shape only accentuated her never ending smile.
