Life Saving Technique Not Recommended

Sleep escapes me bleary-eyed
rising alarms grate my mind
Lung choking smoke
densely stinging my eyes

Brilliant flickering flames,
flashing hotter, and higher
Fueling, dueling
fire fighting fire

Distant firetrucks ringing
they're rescueing wail,
blasting through traffic
towards another highrise hell

Gasping and coughing,
lungs screaming for air,
skin begins burning
starting to melt

"Someone help me" I plead
I'm not ready for death
No response am I given
No more oxygen left

My maddening mind
surely is unraveling;
urged on by thoughts
of unburning desire

With a life saving dash
through 10th floor glass,
into a crisp, cool, comforting wind,
frees me forever from this highrise hell
