My dear, sweet Eliza,
No one could be so fair.
Your face has the heavens glow that no other mortals bear.
Your smile lights up the dark day,
Your spirit brings joy without delay,
And you make me happy to stay,
My dear, sweet Eliza.
My grand, sweet Eliza,
I watch you from afar.
Your flawless perfection gives my lonely soul a forlorn scar.
For, since I cannot have you,
My heart doth long to sing "thee mine true,"
But cowardice leaves me to stew,
My grand, sweet Eliza.
My heavenly, sweet Eliza,
An enigma you must be,
For though our destinies are skew I need you to be with me.
I have a plan so clever,
The mortal ties of ours to sever,
Bind us together forever,
My heavenly, sweet Eliza.
(I have tried using metaphors and critical thought for this poem. It's not just some man's ode to love. I tried to show that as he distanced himself, he becomes more obsessive, and in the end plans to take both thier lives. This is the first time i have tried this. PLEASE tell me if I did a good job. Thnx! -DL)
