My Weapon

My pen is my weapon
With it I silence deception
The adversary slanders me
As I slay false preconceptions

In the midst of the battle
I confront all the deceit
A wounded soldier I grow weary
Ready to give into defeat

But I put there lies to rest
As I hold my weapon and aim
Ready to take down the suffocating thoughts
By silencing my shame

With every word written
I quiet the slanderers, one by one
My weapon gives me the courage
To face the foe, when sometimes I’d rather run

And though I may be vilified
Over and over again
I know that I can avert the enemy
With this small weapon…my pen
