How are you to give to God?
Tithing

What is tithe or tithing? Well if you look it up in the Dictionary you’ll find that it says “A tenth or a small amount.” What does God say it is? God says it is the First tenth of all the land. He also says it ALL belongs to Him and is Holy unto Him.

Leviticus 27:30
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the LORD.

Deuteronomy 14:22
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed that the field bringeth forth year by year.
They were commanded year by year because that’s when they went to the temple. We now go week by week. So they were commanded every time they went to the temple to bring their tithe, so we bring our tithe every week.
God also says to tithe “all the increase” not all the increase after we pay our bills this goes hand in hand with bring your first fruits. The Bible doesn’t say bring a tenth of what is left over, it says over and over your FIRST fruits of ALL increase. Not what we feel we are increased.
2 Chronicles 31:5
And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the first fruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.
Now that we know what tithing is, and can clearly see what, when, and how to tithe lets see what happens when we don’t tithe correctly.

Malachi 3:8-11
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
The Lord says if we don’t tithe correctly you are ROBBING God. That’s a big statement. Now how does it make you feel about tithing? Scary isn’t it? We are robbing the one who commanded us thou shalt not steal! So what happens when we steal from the living God?
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
He puts a Curse on you!!!! And take a wild guess where this curse affects us? You got it! It’s in the financial department. Let’s skip to verse 11 before we look at ten. Look at what Satan was destroying.
11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
Satan destroyed things that gave the people money and earnings.
Now that we have seen what happens when we are unfaithful and don’t tithe, what will the Lord do if we are faithful?
10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
The Lord says that he will pour out a blessing upon us and there won’t be enough room for us to receive it!!!!!
All we have to do is be faithful and give our “small amount” and he gives us back more than we can even handle!!! The Lord stands behind his promises and his word. If He says it we can count on it.
