This is a poem about helping others.
Help can be a funny thing -
Scarce or abundant, depending
Upon who you are or what your ills.
That determines the spending.

Spending comes in many forms -
Time, money, attention...
Thought and prayer fit there, too,
Even though they're seldom mentioned.

To help another, you must be fit first
To help yourself through crisis.
You never know what help might be -
It can come with terrible prices.

Be sure to set boundaries
Whenever you help someone.
If you don't, disaster may strike
And have you on the run.
