Every Two Seconds

I sent him a message
With nothing very important inside
But still I check its status
Every
Two
Seconds.

What I wonder is:
Does he check the status
Of his sent messages?
Does he mimic my display
Of impatient anticipation?

Could he ever know
My panic that maybe
He won't read
Or maybe disregard
My message?

I check it once more
The status reads "Read"
And I refresh the screen
Until it tells me
That he has answered
With a hasty message
Of his own.

Now I type a reply
And begin
The horrible process again.
Checking....
Every
Two
Seconds.
