My Cheshire Cat

I have had pets all my life, mostly cats. I loved them all, and each was a distinct personality. All were "pbc"s (pedigreed barn cats), that is, just regular cats, not purebreds. About three years ago, my husband brought home a very scared 3 month old striped kitten. For the first 6 weeks, she lived under the bed. In fact, she crawled up under the dust protector under the box spring and hid there.
Now, my cats had always been in the 6-9 lbs range. We had no reason to believe Caterina Kitten would be any different. But now, she weighs 12-13 pounds. She is twice the size of our other cat.
The other half of this story has to do with Alice in Wonderland cat, the Cheshire Cat. I thought it was part of the exaggeration of the story. Well, Caterina has the same stare as that famous cat. She has taught me that cats really do come in all sizes.And, by the way, she is still a big scaredy cat.
