Soldiers run
And soldiers die
The war is over
But for some
Bullets still fly

Once a tough fighter
Now a wise old friend
We sit and talk
Out on the front porch
The stories never end

He don't like to remember
When he wore guns on his shoulder
He was tough
He was brave
