A short story with a lovely moral hahaha... XD
The black box
*BAM* a rush of blood fills Nickolas’s nose; he looked, with what sight he had left, tearfully back at Mark and Bill the elementary school bullies.  His knees were covered in the mud from the wet grass; his shirt shined with blood. He felt more trickle onto the ground, as his legs began to shudder falling to the earth his head between his arms waiting for the next blow.  When from the distance he heard the blowing of whistles and a group of teachers running up to stop Mark and Bill.
His eyes opened, he was in the peach colored nurse’s room on a cot; staring into what now became more focused as Ms. Holly, the school nurse.  He could hear the faint sounds of his parent’s voices in the background.  He sat up; he noticed it was now several hours later.  His parents came rushing over bombarding him with questions.
“Quite down Mr. and Mrs. Haybrat he obviously has been through a lot and I would like a chance to talk to him in private.” said the school counselor Mr. Johnson.
         “Who are you?” said Nick.
“Young man, I’m the school counselor Mr. Johnson.”
Mr. Johnson then said “It would be much appreciated if you and I could have a little chat!”
He took Nick by the shoulder and guided him to the office.  Nick noticed a plain black box on the desk along with some little knick-knacks and a computer.  Mr. Johnson said “If I’m not mistaken you will be celebrating your 7th birthday tomorrow?”
There was no reply from Nick; he just began twiddling his fingers anxiously as if he was waiting for the bell to ring so he could walk to his execution.  Just then Mr. Johnson pushed the black box forward.  “There you go, a nice little present for a nice little kid on their birthday!”
         “what is it?” said Nick.
“It’s a box that gives you anything you want; all you have to do is think it!... Think of a pencil and when you open it there will be a pencil.”
Nick’s eyes widened as far as possible as he thought of a pencil, he opened the box staring at brand new pencil! ‘This may come in handy’ he thought already plotting his revenge on Bill and Mark.
He didn’t make a sound as he was walked to the car.  The only sound was his brain wandering how he would get his revenge on the o-so-tough bullies.  ‘No! I shouldn’t get over confident like the hare did in the tortoise in the hare.’ Nick thought.

                                                           ***

The next day came as fast as the last had gone but, the speed of the night didn’t stop him from reassuring himself that his plan was full-proof.  For he practiced all night making pencils appear from the box.  He thought he must have been dreaming of pencils all night because when he woke up the black box was knocked over and pencils were all over the place.
He kissed his mom good-bye and boarded the bus.  Time ticked on 1st period was over followed by 2nd, 3rd, 4/5, and  6th.  It was now 7th period and the moment he so anticipated has come around, it was now recess.  He had promoted the fight he was going to have and the students made two lines leading to Mark and Bill.  Nick gulped holding the black box he had been given as he started walking up the isle.
Nick could hear sneering in the crowd as he passed.  It didn’t phase him, he felt, no he knew he was superior; He held his head higher as the jousts grew louder.
“I see Mr. Johnson gave you the ‘magic box’” said Mark mockingly.
“Yah and it will have more magic than your face ever will!” Nick retorted.
“That’s pretty cocky for someone who’s about to get their butt kicked!” said Bill starting to run towards Nick but was stopped by Mark. “Why did you stop me!?”
“I think our little friend should make his first move.”
“But why…”demanded Bill, Mark glanced at Bill making him say “oh...”
“Freeze them” said Nick just as Mark began to run.  Sure enough, Mark stopped as frozen as the school puddles on Christmas Day.  Nick walked closer and poked Mark in the fore head, which he could barely reach.
He didn’t move, until Nick had turned and went to poke Bill that’s when Bill punched him in the eye and said “HA, Ha, HA! You actually believed Mr. Johnson’s story! What a dork!”

Moral: For those of you who thought he was actually thought he was going to win!  Don’t buy 2 boxes of pencil and put them in a package and give them to an elementary school student who has been weekend/somewhat blinded by a fight, and tell them that you can think of a pencil or anything else and that it will appear.
