Amanda's Adventure - Chapter One

Chapter One

"Mom! Why do I have to live with them? They're weird." Amanda Hencheck snubbed her cousins.

"Sweetie, you're 19, old enough to be nice. Melizza and Raven will love your company. Besides, you need to get out of the country. The city will help you settle into a new environment." Mrs. Hencheck said sternly.

"But - but, I'll miss you guys and all the animals." She tried to come up with a good reason.

"No buts. Your father has agreed too. Now go pack, you're leaving in tomorrow."

Amanda grumbled as she stomped up the stairs of her old farmhouse. Amanda was moving from her comfortable home in Dalfria, Connecticut to Seattle, Washington. She had to move in with her eccentric cousins because she needed to "get to know them better", and had no intention of liking it. Aunt Olivia Redport, her mom's sister, had a daughter named Melizza Redport. Melizza was 19 and a half. Uncle Duncan Penn, Amanda's mother's other sibling, had a daughter too, named Raven Penn. She just turned 18. Melizza had blue hair - blue!, Amanda thought as she packed away her Uggs - and brown eyes. She didn't want to admit it, but she truly thought Melizza was pretty. And Raven had innocent black hair with pink streaks and green eyes. Amanda herself also had streaks, lime green, in her blonde hair and she had sparkling blue eyes. At first her mother didn't approve of her streaks but learned to like them.

Amanda was done with her packing three hours later. She had to pack her whole wardrobe and a couple other things and her parents would send her things she forgot.

At dinner, under the table, she texted her best friends, Alissa and Hannah.
mandyy - heyy u guys
hannahbanana - heyy
alissabear - so whts up?
mandyy - guys?
alissabear - wht??
hannahbanana - wht?
mandyy - I GOTTA MOVE!!!!
hannahbanana - OMG! NO!
alissabear - omg, omg, omg, no way!
mandyy - yes way!! i hafta live w/my weirdo cousins in seattle
hannahbanana - we will miss you soooo much!
alissabear - yeah
mandyy - oops mom caught me texting under the table g2g byee!
hannahbanana - noo!
alissabear - omg byee!

Amanda's mom took away her phone and nearly force-fed her her odd European sausage.

The next morning was the rest of her life.
