I watched you take my heart
I tried to guard it
But my attempts didn't matter
You just stole it right out from my chest
And turned everything around
In a world where I thought no one cared
You saw me unlike anyone else
I let you have my heart
And you held it in your hand
Heated days were filled with us together
And together we stayed as seasons changed
Late night phone calls were always exchanged
Followed by visits full of love and lust

But my head told my heart to find you
And night after night I needed to see you
As time when on, it just got greater
Missing you more and more each day
I lay in my bed and imagine you beside me
Hoping that it will ease the pain for just a little
I feel you touching my skin
And your face in my hands
I hear your voice so clearly
Like it's right in my ear
I see your smile
And your eyes looking right into mine
So many things are left unsaid
But there was nothing else to say
I would have given up everything
To just lay in your arms for a little while
Now I'll try to go back to life before you
Just with an added sense of pain
But everytime I close my eyes
I know I'll remember the quiet nights
That I drove through your sleeping town
With the streetlights so bright
And your tv glowing in the window
The gentle way you'd touch me
With your voice so soft
It felt like we were the only ones alive
And I wanted to feel that way forever.
