Amelia finds herself at school, with an unexpected guest.
My alarm woke me early in the morning. I groaned and hit it.
I pulled my hand away and examined it. I was shaking. I must have over worked myself the other night.
I got out of bed, barely able to stand. I went into the bathroom and took a hot shower.
I figured once I woke up, I'd be completely rejuvinated, but I was wrong.
I got dressed and headed downstairs.
" you okay Lia?" my brother Cash asked.
" I'm fine Cash, just hungry I guess."
I poured myself a bowl of cereal. I only got two bites in before i felt sick. I never could eat that early in the morning. I lay my head down exhausted.
I caught a knife with no effort behind my back.
" Not now Cash." I said setting it on the table.
He was quite fond of throwing things at my back, just to watch me catch them.
" When are you going to teach me that?"
" I tried. Remember the stitches?"
" But that was when I was a child."
" It was two weeks ago." I said finally looking at him.
" Exactly. These past two weeks I've matured immesly." He said puffing out his chest.
I stared at him in disbelief. I can't believe he's my brother.
As I stared, I realized for the millionth time, that we look nothing alike. He has blonde shaggy hair, I have long dark brown hair, he has blue eyes, I have jade, he's 6'-0", I'm 5'-6", we had one thing in common, we both have athletic bodies.
" Okay Mr.Maturity, why don't you take me to school." I say tossing him his keys.
He barely catches them, probably because of how off aim I was today. " I don't think you should go to school today."
" Thanks for the concern, but I can't miss the first day of school, especially when I'm new."
He let out a sigh. " Fine, but call me if you want to come home."
I weakly smile. " you're playing that big brother part pretty well."
He came over and ruffled my hair. " It's harder than you think."
" How so?"
" Well, when you've got a little sister who's more mature than you, you kinda feel intimidated."
We left the house and he drove me to school.
Ugh, I should've taken him up on his offer. It hurts to even breathe.
Though I felt like I was dieing, I showed no emotion. I've been able to hide my feelings ever sinve I was a child. A lesson taught to me when I was young. It is said, that if a vampire can sense your pain, he'll do anything to make sure it never subsides, but if he can't see your agony, they end it quickly.
That, or they get bored and spare your life.
This skill was something I never really had to use, that is, until today.
He stopped at the front doors.
" You sure you're okay to go?" I nodded and exited.
I knew he couldn't see my pain, but he somehow knew I wasn't okay.
As I walked to the doors the students stared at me as though I had a gun.
Wait, was one of my knives showing?
I quickly checked them all, none showed. So what was the deal?
I stepped into the school and headed to the office. I entered and waited in line. There was only one persong in front of me.
Boy, tall, shaggy black hair, and a very weak vampiric aura. Something about him was familiar.
I knew I couldn't act in school, but out of instinct I held my wrist knife tightly.
I heard the leech's voice and my muscles tightened.
Nicholas!
