This poem is about not having the courage to tell someone how you feel
Would you freak out,
if I said I liked you?
Would you move away
and never come back?
Would you laugh out loud,
or call me names?

I want to speak,
but fear creeps up
A constant reminder of past mistakes
Of friends gone by and acts of torment

I want to speak
but fear stops me
It brings me down till nothing’s left
What do you think?
Do you feel the same?
Or will you be another...past mistake?

You speak to me
Hope runs free
Perhaps today, I’d have the courage

I turn to you
and smile sweetly
You smile back, I open wide

And suddenly fear strikes me
What would you do?
How would you feel?
What if perhaps...
I’ve been mistaken

I want to speak
but fear closes in
A constant reminder of past mistakes
Fear takes over
And my words are lost
Will you speak first
Or will I?

My fear stops me
Does dislike stop you?
