Hostile soldiers are coming, can the captain stop them with personal injury?
I waited around the corner with my blade held tightly in both hands looking for my opportunity to strike. I wasn’t going to waste valuable ammunition on such soft targets. From their footsteps I estimated there were perhaps four maybe five soldiers. A pitiful amount in all honesty. Slowly the patter of their feet grew closer and louder as they approached the now empty apartment. I waited patiently for a few more seconds and decided it was time to strike
I stepped around the corner swinging my blade upwards incapacitating the first soldier, but before they had time to fire their weapons I moved forward rapidly thrusting the tip through the heart of the next soldier and grasped his head with my empty left hand using him as a shield. The remaining two soldiers fired their weapons in vain hitting only their dead comrade. Without wasting time I used what strength I had to launch the dead soldier from my blade directly at my next target. The full weight of the dead soldier knocked him to the ground as the other stopped firing his weapon and turned to flee.
I quickly picked up a rifle from incapacitated soldier, took aim and fired at his head. A cloud of atomised blood erupted as he collapsed onto the floor. I turned the weapon to the last remaining soldier. Unable to move with the weight of his dead comrade on top of him, the man begged for his life, something I could not give, not while he was under orders from them. I pulled the trigger once again and let it drop to the ground. This weapon was little more than a tinker toy in comparison to my sidearm let alone my rifle.
I turned my back and walked away from the carnage that had lasted little over eight seconds. Not a perfect time, I would have preferred six but I hadn’t expected the last soldier to lose it and run. As I reached the end of the corridor I paused. Reaching inside my trench coat I pulled out a small cylindrical grenade and griped it tightly pressing the safety lever down, I flicked the cap off the top, underneath it was a button. I pressed it twice for the five second fuse and tossed it amongst the dead soldiers and made haste up the stairwell towards the roof where the girls waited. I had already managed to climb three flights of stairs as the explosion rocked the building. I couldn’t risk leaving any evidence that would lead back to me. Much less reveal my method of combat.
