I lied upon a leaf one eve And was gone with the wind, Decaying from Kentucky Through the earth to Fiji, Myself and my pen Walking hand in hand On a journey for individuality. Sleeping beneth the sky I Paraded across Europe And explored city streets. Writing it became my disease As deprivation developed into muse. Hiking the hills of Italy My interests stopped me in Venice And I endorsed another renaissance. Living the night life in Germany I drove the chaos and Gothic galore. My Amsterdam endeavors Preyed upon the red light district Women and drugs and money and guns. Finally I fell for love in France, Tre belle, Je vis pour t'adore, Paris. Stories as entrancing as wine is blessed I heard one, amazing, of this young mans death They've spread the stories Told the legacies of this man, As if Cain had killed himself All agree he was sent to hell. From what's seen and heard, I'd say he beat the devil To some he's hung forever Other's recall it in fall, Only a few years ago. To some he was an intellectual Others an artist he was called, But a trophy he is known to all. Hanging like a flag on the moon Untamed by time, Remaining untethered, From a thirteen knot noose, The tree and he, to hang and to hold In need of each other they've only one use. Overlooking the valley He protects the town, In this kingdom of a city This man is their crown. They never gave a reason Some suggest it was the season. Nor did they disclose a liaison One to patron this and sponsor him. What was given was one note Only few phrases dedicated to his demise. "Leave my body hang till summertime, So I may glow with the sunrise, And shin with the twilight. Crawl into the past and under this oak Reminisce anecdotes of happiness, Recall for me, ring around rosie." Was written on the front with words on the back This and a locket to stay in his pocket No watch, no wallet, only the words which follow "Leave my body hang through wintertime So I may glimmer before day break And sparkle with the star light Unforgettable was this Mount Everest The family, the friends, the fawn, and the fun Let me say I miss you all but cannot stay." This is the story, and all which goes known Neigh a man sent to hell, but left un-alone Through my endeavors this amazed me most. |
