I came home once and found the door open,
And, afraid that a thief might be inside,
I walked softly and found a glass broken
That cut my feet. To stop bleeding I tried.
But smell of fresh blood woke the sleeping dog
Who had been lulled to sleep by the vile thief.
The glass had inside it a tiny frog,
Which now was enjoying its freedom brief.
I found the frog and put it in a jar.
Then I told the dog to find the burglar.
By this time he had not gone much too far.
I caught him tight around his big collar.
Then I put the frog down his sweaty shirt
Along with plenty of the roadside dirt.
