Red rover, red rover, I call the zombie takeover over.
Red rover
Red rover
Call me over
So I can bend over
Backward for you.

I’ve tried connecting to people
In so many ways
That I’ve really put
The kama sutra to shame.
You can’t imagine
How flexible
I became,
Trying to connect
To humans.
I learnt how to link to you.
I learnt to how to link up
All our brains
Like daisies in chains.
We’re all linked anyways
Like keys on a piano
That god sometimes plays,
So I knew how to connect to you
Through the space that exists
Between our closed eyes
When we kiss,
Or through the space that exists
Between us when
We’re millions of miles apart.
I just flex
And reach out my muscular heart
So you can feel
Me missing you.
(Thank you, I do
Work it out,
It’s one of my more flexible muscles.
It’s so well-built.
It’s faced a lot of hardship,
Namely, the zombie takeover,
But I’ll never let it wilt.)
But today I woke up and didn’t want
To reach out to anyone
I wanted to curl up in a ball
Put my ears in my fingers
And forget about you all
You’re only as cool as
Your fucking sunglasses
Which, moreover,
In the event of an actual
Zombie takeover
Will be hard to see through
And leave you
At a disadvantage
Optically,
Since the zombies will attack
Under the cover of night.
But I get it
Keep your fucking sunglasses on
Instead we’ll just sing
Red rover
Red rover
We’ll call a zombie over
And he can have his way with me.
Cuz my feelings for humanity
won’t have changed much.
I won’t be fazed,
Cuz I guess I’ve always been
Connecting to zombies
In so many ways,
Putting the kama sutra to shame,
You can’t imagine
How flexible I became
Connecting to people
Before the zombie takeover.
It was all a game of red rover,
Red rover
Red rover.
A zombie would call me over
And try to gain control of me
And make me join their team
I’d get flung to their side
In so many ways,
Underhanded,
Overhanded,
Crash landing
Or still standing,
Bent over backward
Or upside down,
Vision blurred,
My mission to connect
Undeterred
By the fact that
I’m spending more time
With zombies tangled in me
Like a bird
Caught in a six-pack ring,
Trying to break through their link
So I don’t have to join their team,
Than I am talking to you over tea
About what makes me, me
And what makes you, you,
Which is my favorite position
The juxtaposition
Of all my memories
To yours
And how we can stitch together
Our hopes and dreams
And run our finger
Along their seams.
You won’t find that one
In the kama sutra,
And anyway it’s a bitch to teach
And none of the zombies get it
Since they haven’t quite gotten speech.
So when they call out my name
And I have to run through them,
And I’m caught connected to them all,
The entire zombie herd,
Like a bird
Caught in a six-pack ring,
Thinking
What the hell is this thing?
I’ll just bend over backward
For them and you,
It’s the only one we do
Even though
I know
So many more positions
For connecting to people,
I’ll just bend over backward
Out of this ring
And we can run for the hills,
Fom the world and all its ills
Like zombies and psychiatrists
With their stupid little pills,
And connect to each other
Through the space that exists
When we close our eyes
And kiss,
And we’ll have a cup of tea
And talk about what makes me, me
And what makes you, you,
Which is my favorite position,
The juxtaposition
Of all my memories
To yours,
And how we can stitch together
Our hopes and dreams
And run our finger
Along their seams,
Then cover ourselves
In the quilt we’ve created
And explore all the positions I know
To keep us sweaty
And related.
