This is a declaration of the love between two awesome people. |
I promise to never let you out of my sight. This was my declaration to you and since then I have become addicted to you. Though sleek and slender you hold so much power that the whole world of scholars are but at your mercy. I'm not flattering you because you deserve so much praise than I can ever give you. A candlemaker introduced to printing met you and became one of the most powerful philosophers- thanks to you everyone applauds whenever Benjamin Franklin is mentioned.Richard L. Nixon, one of America's greatest presidents and speakers used you to write his speeches. You never failed him and to date his speeches are but in every library around the world. Alexander Pope, a poet beyond explanation, adored you as his confidante. Though you have evolved over the centuries you are still bewitching. I hated you the first time we met because of the scars I incurred. It was my failuire to hold you properly that led Mrs. Juma's bamboo strokes to devour my ten year old back. The scars wont heal because I don't want them to. You have cast a spell on me. A spell that even if it were to be undone the effect it had would be immortal. Everyday I smile as I pick you up because everything feels alright then. Your radiant yellow and blue colors appeal to my intellectual nature and together we shake the world. I take a break from reality and board a train with you to the virtual world. Your fine nib makes my thoughts precise as I feel the power rush through my veins deep into my bone marrow. Together we glide smoothly over this piece of paper speaking our own language, yours and mine as the whole world stands alone. Together we fill the paper with color and neat letters. Your nib provides the required amount of ink for a word. You last a century and so far I have written four books...beautiful and enchanting with you by my side. I buy you at such a cheap price yet your output is priceless. For who can put a price tag on wisdom, joy, comfort, knowledge and most of all passion? The end result is beauty depicted in words an aspect that can't be calculated only revered. After a while I take a sip of my coffee and we go through everything together. We insert punctuation marks, add details and sharpen the grammar. After hours, days, weeks and months of hardwork we produce the final polished draft. You look radiant knowing you are going to get your rest and I feel elated. Our journey has been exciting and the destination sound. I put back your cap on and place you on my desk, we need some rest. The sharp cricket sounds and my neighbors squeaky spring bed remind me that it's night time. But in your presence a century seems like being in heaven: gentles as the sae, wild as the tidal waves. More like being sorrounded by a bunch of red thorny roses; kind when favoured and cruel when ignored. The temperature soars above thirty degrees celcius and a thought comes to my mind. I turn to look at you...there you are resting peacefully on my desk. The urge to conquer you and take a trip down memory lane overwhelms me but I stay still. I'll hold it till sunrise my friend, guide and pride. You have to rest my beloved pen. Tomorrow is another day full of thoughts and emotion, and I intend to stay true to my Red Rose statement. |
