Cindy knelt at the floor, her small callused hands viciously scrubbing the pugnacious spot that glowered back at her in grim defiance. It was well after her family's repast, yet she had not eaten a bite, and she shan't, not until her chores are complete; though it would be an act of thaumaturgy for her to finish before the morning. She couldn't help it, really. But complaint never furthered her point, only hindered it; so with that she scrubbed the tattered rag briskly against the kitchen floor.
One could argue that, it is hardly her fault her Mother had taken such incipient umbrage to her in the past few months. You would hardly think Cindy the daughter of a noble lord and lady. In fact, to an on looker, it would seem she is entitled to emolument from her estranging mother. Always her mother, not to be called the palindrome alloted to most children her age. Yet it is not, nor will ever be so, thus she kneels here. She, the deprecated daughter of the houses lady, scrubbing the last bivouac of grime left in the capacious kitchen. Her only company the last dapple of dirt that refused to capitulate, and the canorous susurrus of fabric on stone.
