Love and Passion on a Motorcycle????
I walked into the church basement
half helmet tucked under my arm,
swathed in black leather and denim from top to bottom,
all swashbuckling and bad ass
It's the amorous feel of the hides
that allows the attitude.
I must admit, I like it.

She smiled and asked the obvious "So you ride a motorcycle?"
"Yes I do" I replied, my chest rising.
I pondered her upcoming question in my own head.

"When are you going to take me for a ride? she asked
Smiling and without hesitation I replied "Anytime that you would like"
my confidence high, my heart coming out of my chest.

She smiled " Sunday next good for you" ? she asked.
I had to slow it down,
take control,
don't be too anxious I told myself.

"Let me check my calendar and I'll email you if that's ok"?,
All the while knowing damn well I would quit my job
to spend the day with her.

She smiled back and said "Sure that would be great".
"Do you always ride with a helmet" she asked.
" Absolutely and so will you" I replied I'll bring an extra".
"No need to, I have my own" she said smiling.
How cool I thought, pretty, demure, smart
and she has her own helmet too
NICE

Oh, she was hot, all blond, tall and inviting.
I envisioned her with her hair all tousled and damp
from hours of making love with me.
Little did I know that she was having the same thoughts
and that is truly a dangerous thing for both of us.

I sent the communique out the next morning with great expectations of the upcoming event.
She replied later that her schedule was clear, she would be back in town,
along with directions to her house on the lake.

Sunday finally moped around after a week of long days
and longer nights that seemed to never end.
I walked out to the garage, silently slipped the Gold Wing outside,
set the choke and hit the starter button.
She coughed to life, her four exhaust pipes sang their always sweet song
as she warmed up to the trip at hand.

The sun was bright and warm, the air was cool, a glorious day.
I climbed on the Wing, pulled the clutch lever in,
dropped the shift lever into first gear
and rolled the Wing down my street and onto the nearby expressway.
I headed west towards the tenderness of her arms, the passion of her eyes
the house on the lake.

It was noon when I arrived at her house.
She was hauling mulch in a wheelbarrow as I rode into the long driveway.
She was hot, even in jeans a sweatshirt and leather gloves, I smiled to myself
The wheelbarrow full of mulch in her hands only added to my visual pleasure.
It caused her body to become taunt as she wheeled it into the garage
displaying her fine shape and fitness to my eager eyes

Her blond hair danced in the bright sunlight as she came towards me
her blue eyes piercing my soul as she smiled.
She asked me inside while she changed from the yard clothes.
She handed her full face Shoei helmet for me to check out.
It was fine, but I noticed a couple of things
she had forgotten to remove one of the plastic tag stays from the chin strap.
The helmet was as new as tomorrow.
She had purchased it just for this ride, interesting I thought.

My pre-ride instructions were straight and to the point.
" Don't be afraid".
"You have to trust me enough to follow my lead"
"It's almost like dancing, but the results if you don't have the potential to be catastrophic".

Her blond hair disappeared underneath the black helmet, her blue eyes alight with anticipation as she straddled the Wing.
Her weight was delicious on the bike behind me.
I gingerly pulled out of the driveway, entered the main road past the lake.
Her hands touched my waist lightly as we entered the first sweeping turn.
I was leaning hard on the Wing, she followed my lead flawlessly to insure our safety.
God I wished that she would hold me tighter.
Not for that she might be in any danger of falling off, but I ached to feel her grasp around my waist.

Farther down the road the tip of the collar on my leather jacket started to beat upon my cheek
I could feel cold air annoying my neck.
I reached back with my gloved hand and tried without success to turn the collar down.
Her tender hand reached up, gently brushed my neck as lightly as the the sound of her voice in normal conversation.
She turned the collar down for me.
Oh how I wish she had lingered there for just a while longer

I saw her face in the left side mirror as we headed onto the main road
all smiles and blue eyes inside the black Shoei looking back at me.
The ride was full of wanting for both of us. She wanting to hold me and I her even more so, but it was too soon for both of us.

In my minds eye the ride was full of dreams and wants,
her lips touching mine, my tongue entwined in hers,
a strong embrace from each of us.
Reality was much different, much deeper than that for both of us.
The physical wants were secondary to our spiritual needs that day.
We needed to know each other in a different sense.
And so we did.
