Chapter one of the new series. =D Orell's beginning... |
The Adventures of Orell J. Denver By: OrionStar Returns! Based off illustrated character by Josh Goodman (jgood8) of DeviantART.com ( http://jgood8.deviantart.com/ ) Chapter One - The Beginning Well, it would only be fair to start Orell's story from the beginning, so lets start before all this madness happened. As you would guess, Orell was a normal Junior in high school. Had a few slip-ups, but nothing too serious. He loved music, never once did he ever not play his piano or trill a set on his saxophone. He was just starting to take up Drums at the end of the school year. Summer came without a hitch... and Orell and I started our jobs as Ride Operators at the Flying Comet roller coaster in Americana Amusements, just outside Wichita, KA. We both loved our jobs and I knew that it would be an awesome summer, nothing could possibly go wrong. Or so I thought. When it came to his birthday, our whole Flying Comet crew had a party for him. He absolutely loved it, so much... he began to break down. He told us that his family had been going through some rough times, and that he was thankful for all we had done for him. =) He hugged us all and walked out to go home. He was allowed to leave early, since we had more then enough floor crew to cover it. Andrew Johnson, our area supervisor, allowed him to head home for his family's party. Orell knew that he wouldn't get much, but it would be fine. His little party with his parents went fine. He loved the gifts he received... some money and a new bag for his laptop PC. He hugged his parents and celebrated his time with them to the last drop. [Authors Note: This following section is from the illustrators original document. Suddenly deciding that it might be a good idea to take a shower, he quickly undressed untill only his boxers were on, wrapped a towel around himself and was about to leave the room when suddenly, shattering glass rent the air. Orell jumped about a foot in the air, thinking that it might be a burgler, but after he caught his breath and examened the window, he thought that it might be Ren. He knew that he lacked the proper manors of the door bell, as well as the ablility to judge which rock in the garden wouldnt break the window, but when he did break the window, it was something big. Orell however, waited. He knew that the sound would attract his parents like nats, but when no sqeek came from his parents bedroom door, he thought it safe to go look out the window. As he aproached the decimated pane of glass, he knew that something was immediatly wrong. First off there was no rock, and even stranger still, their was no glass. Orell looked out the window, but there was still no sign of glass on the ground below it. Thinking that it might be time to arouse his parents, Orell turned to walk out the door, but before he could turn his back twards the window, a blinding pain shot through his arm as a dart sank deaply into his shoulder. Soon, Orell's perfectly normal human life would change After the initial shock, Orell grabbed the dart as quickly as he could... trying not to cause more harm to himself. He successfully pulled out the dart, but knew the damage was already done. He spied the dart closely as he looks at it closely. "What kind of a dart is this?" He thought Thats when Orell felt a strange sensation come over him. He felt as if he was floating on air, but he wasn't. Thats when he noticed something not quite right. He check himself, and noticed a fine hair growing all over him. He noticed too, his face was elongating and becoming more muzzle like. As he felt the changes take their toll, he noticed his lower extremities feel horribly transfigured and solid. He ran his hand down his leg to find that his knee was now the opposite direction it was before. It resembled more an equines hind leg then human. He felt lower for his foot. It was literally non existent. It was now a solid black hoof. This literally made Orell's skin crawl. "This...th...this can't be! Its impossible!" He exclaimed. Thats when he felt the worst of the pains, a sharp stabbing in the back of his spine. Thats when a tail dropped itself down out of his boxers. The last of the hair grew on his neck and his eyesight readjusted itself. After a few pops of his joints, Orell closed his eyes, and took a deep breath in, harnessing his lungs the oxygen to regain a touch with reality. "This must be some sort of a dream." He thought... He pinched himself... "Oww!" he cried, "Ok... maybe its not a dream... maybe it is... real!" After finally coming to the conclusion of what had just occurred, Orell felt the oddest feeling. Happiness, fear, anger, confusion; all at the same time flooded his mind. He finally just fell to the floor slowly, and began sobbing softly, but loud enough it could be heard by his parents 2 doors down the hall. "Jeff, do you hear that?" Orell's mother sat upright in the bed, the lights still out. Feeling his wifes worry, he got up and walked over to his closet, grabbed his robe and put it on. Now Jeff was feeling worried, they never have heard their son cry, even when he was a young child. "Joana, I'll be right back, maybe he's having a horrible nightmare." Joana knew something wasn't right, she could feel it in the pit of her stomach. Orell stopped crying long enough to look himself over, again, Thats when he heard his dad knock on the door. "Orell, son? You ok? We heard something and wanted to make sure your alright." Orell began to panic, he felt his ears rotate and land flat against his head. His thoughts raced so fast he couldn't even think straight. He ducked under his bed covers, pulling his tail under with him as his father entered. "Uhh... Everything is ok now dad. Just abit of a rogue dream if you want to put it that way. Ehehe." Orelle spoke quick and stumbling as he tried to stay well hidden. Orell's father looked puzzled. "Ok son, whats with you hiding like this? Come on out." "I can't" "Why not?" "Just because, I don't want you to see me. Something happened." "Well let me see, theres no need to worry, we can help fix whats wrong." "I don't think you can fix this problem." Orelle felt a sick feeling overwhelm him "Come on now, this is getting ridiculous," Orell's father pulls back the sheet and Orell comes face to face with his father. His fathers eyes just grow wide, and his mouth hangs open slightly and he stares in disbelief. "What the? JOANA! Come quick!" "How did this happen?" Orell stared at the ground, "Its a long story..." Thats when Orell's mother, Joana Denver came in. She was shocked in utter disbelief as to what her son had now become. "Well go on, how did this happen?" Orell's father asked calmly.
