Haunting

Black clouds scudded across the wintry sky in the gloom before dawn. Chill gusts tore at the dark figure on the castle battlements. A low moan began and increased through wailing screams and howls to a screeching crescendo. After a final, blood-curdling groan, the piper put away his bagpipes and went below for breakfast.
