Advice to damsels, so as not to alienate their spouses or boyfriends.
THE SEVEN SINS

Young damsel yet unmarried,
It’s possible you carried
A desire so far in life
That you be a happy wife.

It’s but axiomatic,
A feeling automatic,
That if he is unhappy,
She can never be happy.

So I list now seven sins.
You must shun them by all means.
If you follow this advice,
Your married life will be nice.

One, though you be quite handsome,
It would yet be troublesome
To have such a mental craze
That he always sings your praise.

Two, a vice that’s related:
If he is not elated,
Don’t think that he loves you not,
Or, he has a mental rot.

Three, don’t deem it a duty
To always enhance beauty
By all those creams and powders
That change only your outers.

Four, this you must understand
That it is quite a bad trend
To give your tears a full flow
Before the cause he should know.

Five, lady, don’t forget please,
Money does not grow on trees.
Your spending spree you must stall.
You do not have to spend all.

Six, while you want beauty praised,
Make sure questions are not raised
About his power and strength,
Which, to humble him, are meant.

Seven, while being equal,
Let this not be a sequel
That your femininity.
Be lost, what calamity!
