Invisible Dork

I’m right next to you,
So why do you never see me?
Are you truly that blind to my feelings?
Am I nothing more than a shadow to you?
Do I even matter to you?
Do you even care about me?
You know what-
I’m just going to say this to your face,
I’m standing right here-
Right behind your back.
I’m right here.
I hear what you say.
Don’t act dumb,
Word gets around.
Those things you say-
You may think I never hear them-
You’d be surprised how fast word travels.
Why do you judge me so-
When you don’t even truly know me?
Have I done anything worthy of this?
Why am I always the invisible one?
You say I’m not invisible,
You try to make me feel better,
I know those words are false.
I know the things you say-
The things you say when you think I’m not looking.
You call me a freak.
You call me a dork.
Yeah, I know what you say-
Don’t act innocent.
To you I’m one of two things-
I’m either invisible or simply a freak without feelings-
Not worthy of praise.
I hate it when you act like I can’t add up to what you can.
The way anything you do I half to do twice as good-
To be considered half as good.
Well you know what?
I’m sick and tired of it.
In junior high cruelty might put you on top-
But in reality you need more than attitude to get by.
One of these days you’re going to wake up-
And you’ll regret this.
One of these days-
You’ll wake up to reality.
If you were the cruel one you can’t handle true cruelness.
What if I were to do the same?
How would you react?
Would you dismiss it?
What if I said ‘just joking’-
Would that make you feel better?
You say ‘I’m sorry’
You think you understand.
You don’t-
You don’t know what it’s like to live every day-
Every day under this cruelness-
Live under it and pretend it doesn’t hurt you.
Don’t say you do-
That would just be another lie!
I’m right next to you-
So why do you never see me?
