I reread your poem yesterday
And reminisced on what we had
How you promised to marry me
And how I’ll no longer be sad
And how you’d never hurt me
But yet I stand here today
And reminisce on our past love
And how old memories didn’t fade away
You said I’ll understand when I’m older
But yet I still don’t comprehend
How you could hurt me so badly
And say we should just be friends
Do you remember the face tears fell from?
Do you remember the promises you made?
Do you remember the heart you broke?
Do you remember the things you said?
Well I do and many moments
And many tears later, I stand
Do you remember you “weren’t ‘bout child’s play”?
Recess was over. I found a man.
