man in a coffee shop, might never end up happy |
A man, He sits alone in the coffee bar I watch him, watching her He looks at her with such concentration, I can smell the passion in his stare He studies her every movement Hoping the next might be in his direction They meet everyday in this coffee bar at the same time, Although only he is aware of it He knows all her favorite authors He knows her favorite coffee drink He knows that she just got out of a rough relationship She doesn’t even know he exists Still Everyday, in she walks And there he waits He pretends to read a book that he has already read He hopes the author might spark some friendly conversation They make small talk every now and again But he is never satisfied He wonders how a woman can be so perfectly constructed physically and intellectually He wonders why she doesn’t think the same about him I sit and drink my coffee, as I watch the two of them It’s almost like watching an awkwardly choreographed dance I wonder what would happen if she ever gave him the time of day But I guess it’s thinking like that, that would put me out of business |
