The acrimonious side of life...
The Atrocities

The atrocities of Auschwitz
Are still haunting us today;
Four million souls have perished
Through the gates we now survey.
Survivors tell their story
In most painful, brute detail;
How women, men, and children
Died - in Hitler’s hellish jail.

They plotted, systematically
To rid the world of Jews.
Efficiently they carried out
Their plan - the blood did ooze.
Ten thousand victims died each day -
The system worked too well;
Not many can imagine
What it was to live in hell!

The truth stayed hidden from the
World by politicians, high;
Some fourteen months of killing
Were allowed while they stood by.
So many lives within this time
I’m sure could have been spared;
But Man, in his insanity,
Just watched while Jews despaired.

The Allies could have freed the
Jews from almost certain death;
But Anti-Semitism flourished
Underneath their breath.
It seems some men were more afraid
Of Jews than German tanks!
Some even thought it was a hoax…
Just one of Hitler’s pranks.

Most people in our country
Turned their heads from Hitler’s swine;
The papers sometimes carried
Stories - hidden on page nine.
Man closed his eyes in ignorance,
Combined with senseless hate -
You’d think if there were suffering
One would not hesitate!

My question will forever be…
What could the Jews have done?
To close all eyes to tyranny -
To hate in unison.
The answer to my question
Lies within the blinded mind.
Perhaps, with education,
We’ll include Jews in ‘Mankind’…
