In my teenage angst, questioning God and the ways of the world. Old piece.
I see angels all around me.
Their chorus, a beautiful sound.
Serenity and purity
with this new holiness I've found.

But that's not the way it happens.
Burning lies and deceit from God.
False declarations from above
held together by His façade.

It turns out when we’re in Heaven
we are so unjustly accused
by our belief in God, Jesus,
and not our different points of view.

So, I ask, “Who is God to judge
the way we, down here, live our lives?”
He made us to be imperfect,
and expects us to pay the price!

On Earth we are warped and damaged.
His creations? Phah! What a mess!
While He sits all “high-and-mighty,”
He expects us to pass His test.

They say He's watching over us -
"He loves his children, one and all."
But if we ever screw things up,
so easily He'll watch us fall.

So, when we arrive in Heaven
How will we finally be accused?
By how we've forced upon His will?
Or on our different points of view?

So, I ask, “Who is God to judge
the way we, down here, live our lives?”
He made us to be imperfect,
and expects us to pay the price!

And what of these missionaries?
Theses preachers and prophets "so wise"
How holy do they think they are?
Who will adjudicate their lives?

Feeding, leeching off of the rich;
taking, pilfering from the poor;
If we could only count the sins
that they commit behind closed doors.

Courage; faith; a sense of justice;
It doesn’t matter what you bring.
And as for our love and honor…
I guess they just don’t mean a thing.

So, I ask, “Why does God insist
on this basis for the accused?”
By how we force upon His Word,
not all the caring things we do?

But what it all boils down to,
I don't know if I can believe.
Is He still watching over us?
Or one day, did He up and leave?
