A poem written after a night infested with mosquitoes |
My time slowly ticking into the night A time of rest, peace and relaxation But deep thoughts about the night Brings on deep shiver into my spirit For in place of joy comes sadness Another mosquito infested night. Perpetual worry you bring to my sleep Singing melodies of unknown tongues Your burden you bring upon my ear Like plague suffered by Pharaoh's house. Your feast performed upon my blood A thorn upon my flesh you pose Injecting me in with cursed malady To go shivering me on with malaria. Constant anxiety you bring at night Tormenting with fear and discomfort An ongoing scourge of restlessness Your affliction meted on me at night. A pain in the neck you pose to be With agony placed on sweet slumber Bringing your menace upon my body With laziness bestowed upon my soul. A troublemaker you stand to prove An oppressor of the highest order What need is there to be of sleep? With you tormenting my every move. Oh! My time ticking on fast Ticking fast right into the night With these shivering thoughts Riding straight across my mind Another mosquito infested night. |
