A free form poem about Leonard
The Irishman In My Life

Troubled as a child
More troubled as a man
Son of a saint
Hard to measure up to
What all expected

Lost and bewildered
Selfish to a fault
No purpose for living
Under the influence
Of something evil

Spiritually changed, God stepped in
Father of five, all girls to boot
Friend to me always
Pleased with what he has
More pleased with what he has not

Mentor, friend
Always available
Never condemning
Straight up, no chaser
The best way to be

Loved by his girls
Adored by their children
Respected by all
Admired and loved
By me, his charge

One of Gods' great gifts
Patient and kind
Loving and giving
Comfortable in his own skin
As he hopes we all should be
