A poem written for a young couple I saw on the train who were obviously madly in love |
They stand on the platform, bodies moving as one Intricate clockwork of human flesh He wrapped about her like a human cloak She melting into him as they swing into the train and down into a seat, without parting one inch of flesh from one another He breathes into her neck and she smiles up whispering, "What you going to do later?" He sighs down at her as their fingers fold together, "Nothin'. Chill." "Yeah, me too." The words are not words but code for their deep love That is for real, for sure, forever They cannot bear to part, sharing every breath and heart beat as the train rattles on And smiles and sighs pass from person to person who watch them and remember That first love, that special love that grips the soul and takes control Making every moment bliss and heartbreak, a rollercoaster that rises and hurtles down into nothingness That lasts for eternity and is over in a heartbeat The passengers watch them both, her head curled into his chest, his hand stroking her hair Their smiles so achingly full of joy and certainty that they will be together for all of time They will never part For real, for sure, forever |
