A poem I wrote a couple years ago in memory of my cousin.
Top of the hill,
Zooming down, faster and faster at full speed.
Yelling, shouting, and laughing,
An outcry, then silence.
First one, then another, quickly, but carefully come to their friend's aid.
Memories.

Angels gentley kiss the motionless body.
Floating... no pain, no sorrow
Flying free in the skies, watching his mortal body, carried away.
A gentle swell of grief ripples through his soul.
So sorrowful was earth.
Memories.

Yelling, crying, grief, mourning
The small body, covered.
Mother clings to Father.
Friends cry aching tears.
The body, carried away.
Memories.

Suits, dresses, jackets, ties
Mourning, grief, sorrow, thoughts
The little boy is everywhere,
Memories find themselves locked in minds,
Not wanting the truth.
Memories.

Rumors, thoughts, recollections
Haunting dreams, terrifying thoughts.
Memoirs, imagination.
More crying, more tears.
How could one life touch so many?
Memories.

Memories of one so young,
Many friends, scores of family,
Cheerful smile, pure white heart.
Brilliant child, wonderful kid.
Familiar shake of shaggy hair, common marvelous laughter.
Memories.
