The Girl in the Mirror

There’s a girl in the mirror tonight,
And there’s nothing that will make her feel alright.
There’s a girl on the ground today,
Pretending that everything’s okay.

She’s done with being broken,
Being unheard when her words are spoken.
She’s through with faking smiles,
And feeling not worth while.

She’s finished feeling empty inside.
She won’t be set aside.
She refuses to fake it again,
And be without her friends.

She doesn’t want to make anymore excuses,
Or Explicate why her soul has so many bruises.
She wants to forget everything that went wrong,
Stop the radio from playing stupid, depressing songs.

Millions of girls in the world
Are trying not to unfurl.
What is it holding them down?
What keeps their feet on the ground?

How do you explain,
If what you want, you can not attain.
What are you going to do,
If they find what you say is untrue.

Where is a girl to go,
When she feels no place is home?
Where is she to hide,
When she has lost all of her pride?

Screaming in a pillow won’t always work
The shadow inside you will always lurk
If you just sit around and allow it to brood
You will find yourself in an even worse mood
