smudge of charcoal there.
Palette slowly mixed with
dark and dusky hues.
I am painting you.

A small camel-haired brush,
with sparse thinned bristles
is grasped in my trembling hand.
I am trying to capture fine lines
of your dark soul.

Cynicism used to be
your saving grace.
I am searching for the right color
to express the cold beauty
that is your face.
