I wrote this based off of a novel my friend is writing.
Battlefield of the Lost

You have seen many battlefields,
But I guarantee none like this.
For this battlefield is strange, indeed,
In that the battle ended long ago,
Yet still rages on for untold times to come.
Day after day.
Night after night.
A never ending war between two factions,
Both that perished long ago.
On one side, the noble Ephesians,
Fighting for honor and glory.
On the other, the treacherous Sardians,
Fighting for greed and power.
But wait,
For that is far from all.
So far the battle has not been strange.
We have yet to reach the fun.
For when Sutray’s army comes,
So does Sutray, insanity itself.
Bringing death,
And decay.
For Sutray’s legions are not normal soldiers.
They are the unholy scourge,
The plague bearing horde,
The army of the undead.
And Sutray himself, a God in bone and fire.
The god of Death,
The god of Darkness.
The god of Insanity.
The unholy power of Sutray’s destroyers,
And the energies of the Ephesian Arcanes,
Caused an imprint of every troop,
On the Ephesian and Sardian fronts.
Alive,
Yet dead.
Both armies still live in death,
Although Sutray’s forces left in victory.
And so the battle rages on,
Never ending, neither side winning.
A tie,
A stalemate.
Although one spots stands clear,
Devoid of all spirit-soldiers,
Two swords in the ground,
Each with two letters engraved.
AC
JB
Blades crossed in death,
The most powerful of soldiers,
Amidst the Sardian troops,
Who fought for honor, and glory.
