The Call

Hit the field or hit the ball
Everyone waits for the ultimate call.

Hearts are thumping and adrenaline pumping.
This will be the toughest competition of all!

Was that a strike or a ball?
You know that plate can seem so small.

The pitch comes in,
If I miss, it would be a sin.

Over the fence it falls
I get to touch them all!

Time ticks and up come their sticks
Should we find a way to stall?

Girl stands on first base
Trying to recapture first place

Stains and pains cover our bodies
But we give it our all, to stop that ball

Girl is coming in, but I know she won’t win
I stand tall and become like a brick wall

Down we both fall
And “OUT” was his final call!
