Learning how to see things in a new light.
Coming up for air.

For the first time in a life time

I know in every part of me I've done what's right,

and all that mountainous weight finds itself in pieces

on a bar room floor.

And me, shoulders included,

are so far above it that it ceases to matter.

It ceases to exist.

I wipe the crust from my eyes to view it all.

Let it soak into every pore.

A beginning so pristine that not even myself can tarnish it.

I find myself forced to laugh.

Smile till it hurts over how truly foolish I have been.

Things before I would have bled for now come indifferent.

Everything gets new lighting

and my priorities have been caught in all the wrong places.

I was wrong.

The words flow so simple.

No defense, no jury to prove to. No need to probe.

I was wrong,and now I'm right,

and nothing will ever be the same.
