Adieu
The knife plunges deeper inside my mind.
The words that were said, the actions taken,
The flesh gives way slow to that razor line.
My mind reels, my confidence is shaken.
The vultures circle slower, and closer.
Subtle grain of the wood that bears my weight,
And the screams none can hear echo louder.
The dread sins that adorn my leaden slate,
Cry out for retribution, slow with pain.
The knife twists with Its increasing pleasure.
The bonds grow tighter, I resist in vain.
And here? Some light, with value unmeasured.
It splashes my face with refreshing truth,
Then disappears, as my vision grows dim.
