A conversation between King Tut and Ank
Written for 'Dialogue 500' - open prompt
word count: 163

“Hello, Tutankhamun.”

“Hello, Ankhesenamon.”

“May I call you Tut?”

“I would be pleased if you would. And may I call you Ank?”

“Oh yes, Tut. I’ve never liked the name Ankhesenamon anyway.”

“Why don’t you like your name, Ank?”

“It sounds like the noise Nefertiti makes when she sneezes.”

“Ank, it is then.”

“Can you do that, Tut? Change my name…I mean?”

“Sure I can, I’m the king and I can do whatever I want.”

“You’re awfully young to be a king.”

“I’m nine years old…old enough to be the king of all Egypt.”

“What else can you do, Tut?”

“Lots of things.”

“What things, smarty pants?”

“Well…I can date who ever I want.”

“You’re dating already?”

“Sure…I’m the king, remember?”

“I’m thirteen and Nefertiti says I’m too young to date.”

“I’ve always liked older women, Ank. Would you date me?”

“No…I won’t date you. How embarrassing would that be?”

“What if we just got married instead and skip the dating part?”

“Okay.”
